Join our Team

We’re passionate about harnessing the power of theatre and storytelling to combat humanity’s biggest challenge – the climate crisis. We are a company driven by ambition, energy, and an unending hope that, together, we can rise to the challenge and build a greener future. No matter your age or experience.

We’re frequently on the lookout for people who feel the same way. Keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and be the first to know when applications open. Or, if you feel that you’d be a particularly good fit, please do get in touch with some information about you, and why you’d like to work with us.

As a core part of our Equal Opportunities Policy, we guarantee that 50% of interviewees for every role will self-identify as coming from a background currently under-represented in the arts.

Build Volunteers Volunteer position, 2 weeks or more

The Greenhouse is offering opportunities for Build Volunteers to join us in constructing and taking down our venue – built completely from found and recycled materials – this summer. You will help us bring our theatre off the page and into life, playing your part in creating London’s first ever zero-waste venue! We are particularly keen to work with young or emerging designers, carpenters, stage managers, or anyone in a similar relevant field. We’d love to work with people who have some experience in set-building or even in building temporary arts spaces. But most of all, we want to work with young creatives who can use a drill and are keen to learn and try something new!

For our build volunteers, we’re looking for
  • Commitment to at least two or more weeks of build and deconstruction over the following periods (dates may be subject to some small changes).
    • Mon 17th April to Sun 7th May
    • Mon 5th June to Sun 25th June
    • Mon 24th July to Sun 13th August
    • Mon 11th September to Sun 24th September
  • Some experience designing and/or building sets, or some experience with other elements of construction and woodworking.
  • People with an active interest in sustainability, and with an interest in how the arts can help shape a greener future.
  • People with a hands on approach to learning, and who are excited to get stuck in and help out.

We offer:

    • Up to £75 of expenses paid each week, including travel, food and drink, and clothing/equipment.
    • Free access to shows/events at The Greenhouse (subject to availability).
    • Mentoring from The Greenhouse’s Executive Team to help you develop your professional experience and/or creative practice.
    • Exclusive talks/workshops to help you develop your sustainable practice.
    • Regular internal social events – from drinks to scavenger hunts to group meals – to meet and socialise with The Greenhouse family.
    • Build connections with other young and emerging creatives who have an eye for art and social responsibility.
    • The chance to make a real impact on the sustainability of both the theatre industry, and the world as a whole.
    • A friendly, welcoming atmosphere that encourages debate and experimentation, and allows you to explore new ideas.
To apply, please respond to the questions in the below application form in a way that suits you, before 23:59 on Friday 31st March. Please note, applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, and we may close applications before this date. If interviews are required, they will take place on the week commencing Monday 3rd April.
