We’re passionate about harnessing the power of theatre and storytelling to combat humanity’s biggest challenge – the climate crisis – and we’re always on the lookout for people who feel the same way. The Greenhouse is a project made by and for young people. It’s driven by ambition, energy, and an unending hope that, together, we can rise to the challenge and build a greener future. No matter your age or experience.

Auditions Now Open
The Greenhouse Theatre — the first ever zero-waste theatre project in the UK — is leading the way in making sustainable theatre. This year, we’ll be appearing in London for four weeks, before returning to the Edinburgh Fringe for a month. We have a collection of six shows — three of which are currently on the look-out for performers. If you’re passionate about theatre and its potential to make the world a better, greener place, then we’d love for you to join us!
What we’re looking for
We are looking for 13 performers total — 5 of whom will have the opportunity to perform in two of our shows. We’re keen to work with performers of all experience levels — mainly, we’re looking for people who are personable, friendly, and happy to help out to make sure the project is the best it can be. If this sounds like you, click below for a copy of the information pack, which outlines some more about who we are, and what you can expect from us as a performer in The Greenhouse.
We are looking for performers for 4 of our shows, 3 of which will appear in both London and Edinburgh (As You Like It, 12, and Cass) and one of which will appear in just Edinburgh (human/nature).
As You Like It – An all-singing, fast-paced production of one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, with silly hats and lots of plaid. Actors with musical ability preferred but not essential (8 roles).
12 – An intimate love-story in response to the IPCC report of 2018 indicating we have just 12 years to mitigate the effects of climate change. A deeply human exploration of how we relate to each other and to the natural world around us (2 roles).
Cass – A dark fairy-tale, set in the Scottish Highlands and based on the Cassandra myth, exploring reactions to climate change predictions. Scottish performers preferred but not essential (3 roles).
human/nature – Through monologue, movement, and music, human/nature explore how humanity is programmed to block out the concept of climate change, because it’s just too big for us to handle (5 roles).
If you are interested in auditioning, please read the Information Pack, then send your Acting CV, a photo of yourself, a completed information form (below) and any other supporting materials you feel may be relevant to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Applications close on Friday 28th February. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
